I'm doing that workshop every Monday evening, with Sarah, she is American, and studies in Germany, and she works part time at my boarding school.

I few weeks ago, I rode the train back home.
I got in, and found a seat really fast, in that usually really packed train. Normally there is space on the mid deck for around 12 people, but just a guy and a girl where sitting around the table on the window.
I realized why it was so empty there, really fast.
The guy was a Nazi, and a three Left Radicals where passing and spitting at him.
The skin head was just sitting there, and didn't anything, while that happen.
10 minutes later, alt least nine Left Radicals came, and tried to beat him out of the train, while yelling:"This train does not drive for Nazis, get out on the next stop, or take your Londsdale Jacket off!!!"
He didn't took the jacket off, but didn't hit back, and his sister where yelling at the Lefties.
After a minute or so, till the train conductor came, and said that he will call the police, if they don't leave the wagon.

They left the wagon, and the train conductor locked the door, behind them. The Lefties kicked the door so hart, that the glass fall almost out. Than they went away.

I felt kinda helpless, because I didn't know what to say, and what to do with myself.
Fact is, nine left radicals tried to kick one Nazi with his sister out of the train.
I don't care if 10 vs 10 fight that out somewhere in the streets, but not nine vs 1 1/2.

I don't agree with the Nazis at all, but I felt sorry for the one guy, and I was kinda sad about the Lefties, because they made bad publicity about the left scene.

What was I supposed to do, besides sitting right next to it???

My dad said:" It's not our fight, the Nazis would do the same to a Leftie."
That sentence reminds me on the movie "Lord of War"

I put my camera on sport settings, Iso 1600 at f 1.8, but I just had my 50mm on, but there was no room in that train, so I didn't took any pictures, while they where around, but I got two shoots, when the Lefties leaved the train.

...when picking up developed film. It's exciting all over again, like Christmas!
This week, X-mas and my birthday came to the same time.
I picked up three developed rolls, and most of them came out really good

Currently I'm using more film than my digital camera, so please be patient about posting.

The first three are taken last year around X-mas time

I tried a long exposure ( I mean really long) once with my cable release...but my hand where freezing off ways to fast.

The last for pictures are taken on Ruegen, with my walk around lens, my fisheye/
This time, I did great on long exposures, the last two are exposes for around 3 and 9 minutes.
I had better music to listen to, and it was not as cold.

serious....we had everything freezing up over the past 1 1/2 weeks, because it was under 0 degrees Celsius/ 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
It's known that I live on an "island" surrounded by the river the Havel.
So, friends from boarding school and I just went along the island, and had some fun sliding along.

I'm not sure why I always end up taking pictures of trees.
Probably it's in my gens, because my dad is an arborist, and probably because he shows me always really nice once.
Here are a couple of trees my dad suggested.

I spend New Year on Ruegen, Germany biggest island in the Baltic Sea.
We stayed in a little "beach house." It's actually on top of the shore, but still really close to the ocean, and you've got a great view from up there.

On the way up to Ruegen, wie stopped by a park, with more than 1000 year old oak trees.
Thankfully I had time to run some lightpaintings on two of them.

We finally arrived on Ruegen at probably 6pm, and got some shopping done, in a local shop.
After we had some food, we moved in the house, and needed some heaters, because it was freezing inside. After my folks got everything running, I packed up all my camera stuff and went down to the beach, to get some shoots of the water and the coast.
Shamefully, I lost my green gel =/

On New Years Eve, my folks and I walked along the coast, to get a nice view on the fireworks. The fireworks got fired up at a old pier, the main tourist attraction in Sellin.

After the fireworks stopped, we walked down on the beach, and fired up our own rockets.
It's quite impressive how my dad can start them out of his hands.

On Jan. 1st, we went to the "famous" Chalk Coast, in the west of Ruegen, where I took the picture with the piece of wood.
In the evening, I went out to take the last few frames of an abdomen holiday camp, and the view down the coast, to a little town.
After all, I had a really relaxing start in the new year!

...over break, so I snapped some pictures away.

On the 25th. went in my little studio, wish is more like a table top...and made some lightpaintings on my bananas of rock climbing shoes.

A night later, I tried to capture some star stripes, but I failed miserable, because of the lightpolution and my endurance.
Thats the only picture I kinda liked.

On the 26th, my dad and I brought my grandma home, and on the way back, we stopped at the gas station and paid finally less than we got!
That was almost a historic day in the last two year!

My dad is a teacher in the Munich Tree Climbing School, to educate people about climbing safely on a rope in trees as an arborist.
He gave me the assignment to document some different climbing techniques with different tools.

Here is what I made out of the poor light conditions, cauz it was taken in our barn.

My dad was able to pick me up last Friday from boarding school.
We drove to a mall to do some Christmas shopping. Well....we went to the electronic section, like guys always do. While my dad tried some navigation systems out, I asked for the new
Canon 5D Mk II. They said that they are out of stock till February.
How ever, they had a Canon 1Ds Mark III in a vitrine. It becomes even better, there was a 300mm 2.8 mounted on it.
I asked a employer if I can "try the beast out," and JACKPOT!

The first two pictures where taken with the 300mm lens across the room.

The last two pictures where taken with a 16-35mm 2.8 II. Both pictures are showing my dad.

If you care, take a look on the pictures in full resolution, and the EXIF data.
They are straight out of the camera and converted from Raw to Jpeg in CS4

Edit: The pictures where compressed by blogger. Normally, they are 7-14mb big and 21mp huge.

A couple weeks ago, Max Weber, a fellow classmate helped me to get on the St. Nikolai church.
The church was destroyed in the second WW, and was rebuilt after.
A beautiful piece of architecture.

Thanks to Max and his Dad for getting me up there.

She is a lovely old woman, but blind since 1976.
She will turn 64 this Dec. 27th.
It's amazing how strong she is,and the she is so active in clubs and a choir.

Ginnngggg....the fight just started....again!

After a lot rumors, Canon released the new 5D Mark II and the first exemplars got shipped out already. I tried my luck to get hands on that beautiful piece of equipment, but I had no luck, because they are sold old till February. I got my hands on something else. More will follow soon.
Anyways, the interesting facts are the ISO range, the HD movie capability, the 3 inch screen and the image quality.

Now, to Nikon's D3x

I think the world didn't got that exited about the D3x, because it is almost the same Camera like the D3! The "new" things are a lower frame rate, and a lower ISO speed wich is something special on the digital Nikon's, because the lowest ISO on most Nikon's is 200. The D3x got a ISO 100. But this feature isn't worth the pay 8000 USD!

There are shapes, lines, and clean cool looking room, and all in great light conditions.
It's a shame that it's forbidden in mist places.....anyways...here some pictures I took.

BTW: I got a nice little carpet for my room at boarding school. It was reduced too!

After Teresa and I got everybody safely from Daves party back to boarding school, I took a nap, and took the train back to Brandenburg, where my dad picked me up to take me home.
I'm not sure why, but sometimes Ziesar feels like a cage, and it can be really boring and even depressing there sometimes. I think the pictures explain well.

Sauerkraut is so good sometimes, and soccer is really fun to shoot!

I go sometimes out with the kids from boarding school and take pictures while they are playing.

If I'm not taking picutres or doing something for school (I actually do nothing right now), I'm gaming at my roommates awesome PC-games, most recently Far Cry, and the past two days
Call of Duty 5, which totally amazes me.

Far-Cry 2 got awesome details and graphics, a fun multi player mode, but a really lame story, which is a shame.
We often play it over LAN at boarding school sometimes for hours.

CoD 5 is just amazing, the story is great, and I don't even have to talk about the graphics.
I think my favorite mission is where you have to destroy the ships and Zero planes.

I asked my DS teacher (see pictures previous post ago) about some color gels for my flash, and the one day, he got me green, blue and red gels for my flash.
I now, it's not quite like a rainbow, but it's something to play with!

Examination Time

The time for examinations has just started, that means, I've to write a big test in every subject I got, even in sport or theater.
I screwed already my french and german examination up, and more will follow.

I'm not sure how important that stuff is, because they, the teachers, will delete all grades after the semester...anyways, I shouldn't be that lazy, but I am.

These are old storehouses near downtown Potsdam, right next to the Havel.
The are at a beautiful spot, and there are tonnes of S p a c e and opportunity.
It's known, that the ANTIFA hides some weapons somewhere in this era, because there bar is just across the streets.
Anyways, Raffael and I went there o Wednesday because the moon was just right, and not that cold. We sneaked at first on a other area (last pic.) and later went on to go on to the storehouses.
It was pretty amazing to see that old architecture at night, but the batteries from my flash died soon, and I had no extra batteries with me, which was a bummer.
so we leaved the area at around 12pm, and sneaked back to boarding school.

I hopefully can return soon, because it's just an amazing spot!

I can't decide if I like the 1st or the 2nd on version better.
most people like the first version, I do like the second somehow better.

Election Night

Yes, I watched the election in Germany.
The TV stations started broadcasting at 12pm from Chicago and Arizona.
Nils, Longi and I came back from driving school, and made us ready for the night with a gallon of Cola and candies.
We played some computer games until 12pm. After tuning the TV in one at least one of our computers, they started watching while I worked on the designs.
At 2:30am, Longi went to bed, while we changed the TV-computer onto my Leptop.
For a long time, nothing really did change and Nils and started playing again.
I decided, to put my rice-milk in the fridge, but in this 15 seconds on not sitting in front of the tube, Obama became the president of the USA. It was so weird to see that, because he had just 207 electors, and he became the rest in these seconds, we didn't watched.
That did happen around 4:30am in the morning.
We both could not believe it! Obama is PRESIDENT!
Nils and I went on a walk around the Island, and talked for ever about that change.

Without any sleep, we went to school, at 8am.

Thats my dads T4/Eurovan.
I really like it, because there is so much room to work with, and it got a great mpg, for van!
To bad, that we have to sell it soon, because of the environmental issues going on in bigger Cities.

I've got a new Speedlight for my Canon.

I found a old Voigtländer from 1938 in a closet.

There was one role of 120mm film in it, which I took out to check

if the camera is still working, it DOES!

I'll let that film develop soon, and get new roles of 120mm film.

I took the last two pictures in my little homemade studio with my XT and the Speedlight.

I got a nice flash last weekend, and tried it out instantly at the old community pool area.

The main buildings burned down almost 10 years ago. The pool is still there, but trees did grow in there over the past years. To bad, because that was the only place to cool down in the area of around 10 miles.

This time, my sister and I hadn't to cool down by 50°F outside.
